Department of Homeland Security Launches New I-94 Website

|

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection division of the Department of Homeland Security has launched a new redesigned I-94 website and an I-94 pre-payment option for individuals entering the United States. The new site, while providing the same functionality and information as the previous version, offers a cleaner and much more user-friendly presentation that is sure to be an invaluable resource for foreign nationals traveling to the states.

Users can retrieve their Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record, and view their international travel history. Additionally, the CBP has also revealed a new procedure for individuals seeking admission to the United States at land borders which allows them to pay a $6 fee and apply for their I-94 online up to 7 days prior to entering the country. While individuals will still be subject to being interviewed by CBP at the time of admission, the new process will foster more efficient processing. Payments can be made online via PayPal or with a valid credit card, debit card, or direct debit.

The Form I-94 is a critical document, as it shows an individual’s nonimmigrant status, expiration of stay, and is widely considered to be the principal document required to prove authorized stay in the United States.
