Sovmya George is an Associate Attorney specializing in immigration law, including employment-based petitions (e.g., EB-1/EB-2/EB-3, etc.). Prior to joining Akula & Associates, she worked as an Associate Attorney in a mid-sized Boston law firm where she handled numerous immigration (eg. asylum, cancellation of removal, naturalization, etc.) personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. She has tremendous experience presenting cases before judges, USCIS, and the DIA.
Sovmya’s interest in Immigration law stems from her personal connection to the field through her family. Being a part of the first-American born generation in her family, Sovmya understands the hardship of foreign nationals looking to settle down in America to create a bright future for their families, just like her parents did. She is excited to help people achieve their American dreams by assisting them through the initial process of getting a green card.
Sovmya earned her J.D. degree from the Massachusetts School of Law in 2021 and is the recipient of the Best Legal Advocate for Writing and Legal Advocacy and was awarded the Dean’s Award of her graduating class for her excellency in studies. While in law school, Sovmya competed in trial teams, held positions in her school’s BLSA, and started a blogging platform for her school to help students and professors stay connected and informed in the law/recent cases.
